II case mold markingII plus case

The Case

At one point, I was looking for another case, but there were apparently some minor changes in the case design or manufacturing at some point of production.  The two Apple II plus cases that I have, have slightly different markings from the molding machines, so I am sticking with the patched original.

Left: case for Apple II, #2672.  The yellow arrow points to extrusion  that doesn't exist on some later cases, that I have seen.

Right: case for early Apple II plus, #6738.  Perhaps the extrusion was filed off, prior to painting on these later cases?

Update 5/27/2007

I recently purchased an earlier II plus (serial number <3000).  This case has partial extrusions.   I'm not sure what to make of this other than speculate that variations occurred in production of these cases.

I have patched the hole in the case I created for the reset disable switch.   Green squadron modeling putty was used to fill the hole.  The challenge has been matching the paint.   Above is a picture of the reset toggle switch and behind it, the plugged hole, still waiting to be painted.   Below is the repaired completed, not perfect, but far better then the before picture.

Case Cleanup

After 30 years this case was pretty dirty.  I cleaned it up with a two step process.  First I wiped GoJo hand cleaner on it and scrubbed softly with a soft brush.  This loosen most of the grime, which I was able to wipe away with a paper towel.  The second step was a washing in a dish washer, which did some additional cleaning as well as removed any remaining GoJo.  The result was pretty good.
