Noon in the Grand Canyon

Notice the short shadows. By this time we were beginning to realize that we wouldn't be able to complete the round trip to the bottom of the Canyon and back on this day. It was just too hot and dry. A couple of times we did a tiny bit of climbing off of the trail in order to find some shade under a nearby rock outcropping.
